I don't know. For those of us who have a monstrous sweet tooth, will a cozy mystery set in a candy shop or bakery satisfy our sugar cravings in a healthy way? Or will it just make us want to run out for a sweet treat?

This could be dangerous, but to celebrate my love of Easter candy, I put together a list of 10 popular murder mysteries set in the spring and featuring sweet treats. I try to recommend only the best, so every title has earned a rating of 4.2 or higher stars on Amazon. If you’d like a little yumminess in your next TBR, consider choosing one of these ten cozy mysteries that blend equal parts sweetness and suspense.

  1. A Matter of Hive and Death by Nancy Coco

In a quaint coastal Oregon town preparing for a quirky UFO festival, Wren Johnson is expecting a routine pickup of honey for her store. Instead, she discovers a local beekeeper dead among shattered hives. While rumors "buzz" around town and conspiracy theorists descend, Wren and her eccentric Aunt Eloise take matters into their own hands. Their plan? Lure the killer out with a clever trap. This mystery blends small-town charm with a lively cast of characters and plenty of honey-sweet intrigue.

  1. Botched Butterscotch by Amanda Flower

Mother’s Day brings both celebration and tension to Bailey King’s Amish candy shop in Ohio. With her estranged father visiting and a big church event on the horizon, Bailey hopes sweets will smooth over old wounds. But when money meant for a good cause disappears, she’s pulled into a tangled mystery filled with suspects, not to mention a bit of romantic meddling from well-meaning family members. This cozy delivers heart, humor, and a dash of family drama alongside the mystery.

  1. Boulevard of Broken Creams by Sarah Fox

This may be one of my favorite pun titles ever! Springtime in Vermont brings a film crew to a picturesque town, drawing local resident and chocolatier Becca Ransom back into the acting world. She takes a role in the production, but when a suspicious death casts a shadow over the set, one of her former co-stars becomes a prime suspect. Determined to identify the real culprit, Becca must navigate a web of secrets worthy of a soap opera. A perfect mix of glamour, gossip, and chocolate-fueled sleuthing.

  1. Cinnamon Twisted by Ginger Bolton

Life at a cozy donut café takes a dark turn when a frantic customer leaves behind more than just a dropped earring. Soon after, she’s found dead, and evidence begins pointing to café owner Emily Westhill. As clues pile up, including a mysterious letter and a troubling link to Emily’s own home, she must clear her name before suspicion sticks like cinnamon sugar on a freshly fried donut. This whodunit offers a satisfying blend of suspense, quirky clues, and small-town warmth.

  1. Donut Disturb by Ellie Alexander

Another classic cozy for donut lovers! At a joyful spring wedding in charming Ashland, Oregon, the nuptials go sideways when an unexpected guest disrupts the celebration and a murder quickly follows. Pastry chef Juliet “Jules” Capshaw finds herself juggling catering duties and a growing list of suspects. With tensions rising and secrets unraveling, Jules must dig deep to solve the mystery before the killer strikes again. Equal parts festive and foreboding, this cozy captures the chaos behind picture-perfect moments.

I'm 100% sure these aren't the only sweet treat cozies set in the spring season. Please add your book recommendations in the comments below!

  1. Into the Sweet Hereafter

In a Texas tourist town known for its nostalgic candy shop, what begins as a puzzling shop window incident escalates into a string of strange burglaries. Tally Holt is baffled when seemingly worthless replica sweets become the target of theft. As the mystery deepens, she realizes there’s more at stake than meets the eye. This story delivers a fun twist on the cozy formula, with an unusual premise and plenty of small-town charm.

  1. Murder Is a Piece of Cake by Valerie Burns

With a spring festival approaching, bakery owner Maddy Montgomery is determined to honor her late aunt’s legacy. But competition heats up when a rival baker arrives in town. Soon, things turn deadly. When evidence implicates Maddy’s own shop, she must reveal the truth before her reputation is ruined for good. This fast-paced cozy blends social media savvy with classic amateur sleuthing.

  1. The Chocolate Bunny Brouhaha by JoAnna Carl

Easter season means booming business at a chocolate shop, but it also brings unexpected drama when a new employee’s complicated personal life spills into the workplace. A heated argument is followed by murder, and chocolatier Lee Woodyard steps in to sort out the mess. With suspects growing in number and tensions running high, this festive mystery offers a deliciously twisty plot with a holiday flair.

  1. Toxic Toffee by Amanda Flower

In another installment in the Amish Candy Shop series, Bailey King is tasked with creating a show-stopping candy centerpiece for the town’s spring festival. But when a beloved local dies under suspicious circumstances—poisoned by a seemingly innocent treat—Bailey must dig into long-buried secrets to get to the real story. With Easter festivities as a backdrop, this cozy mystery combines seasonal charm with a darker edge.

  1. Triple Chocolate Cheesecake Murder by Joanne Fluke

Spring in Minnesota keeps baker Hannah Swensen busy with holiday orders until a shocking murder turns her world upside down. When her sister becomes the prime suspect, Hannah dives headfirst into the investigation. As always, this popular cozy mystery blends irresistible recipes with a satisfying puzzle.
